1 May 2018

Springtime is upon us all and it is the time we start working outdoors getting our lawns in shape again and contemplating new projects around our homes. Our Protective Covenants remind all of us of our homeowner responsibilities which include: lawn mowing on a regular basis; tree and shrub pruning; watering landscaped areas; keeping improvements and exterior lighting in good repair and in working order; keeping lawn and garden areas alive, free of weeds, and attractive. We have a very attractive neighborhood and numerous realtors have commented on how great our properties look. A great looking neighborhood maintains and increases home values. We would encourage everyone to help keep it that way.

Pets. Please be considerate of your neighbors and ensure your pets are under control; not roaming the neighborhood; and not nuisance barkers. We recently had one of our neighbors bitten by an unsupervised dog, which stresses the point of maintaining control. When walking your pet, please bag the waste, and curb your dog. We have a great community and certainly want all homeowners to enjoy their homes and pets. We all work very hard and probably moved to this community for the peace and tranquility it offers. Dogs are a wonderful addition to families and help reduce stress and improve quality of life. We just need to be mindful of our neighbors. Thanks to everyone for their help in this effort.

Noise. We will all be enjoying the outdoors with things such as family gatherings, BBQ’s, pool parties, etc. While we want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable summer, we need to be mindful and considerate of our individual and collective neighbors. Please remember our Covenants include rules regarding noise that will or might disturb the peace, quiet, safety, comfort or serenity of your neighbors to include outside speakers or amplifiers. County Ordinance defines quiet hours from 10pm until 7am.

Swimming Pool. New pool furniture has been delivered for everyone’s use this swimming season. We would request that everyone help us maintain it by not putting on suntan lotion and lying directly upon the chaise chairs. Placing a towel down will help us maintain our new furniture.

Additionally, this year we have a new emergency pool phone. If you pick up the phone, it will directly connect you to 911. There is no other function of the phone. Please caution your children or guests to only use the phone for emergencies.

As we have done during past years, we are seeking Community high school students who want to earn money during the summer to clean the pool area daily. The job entails cleaning the restrooms, picking up debris around the pool area, straightening the pool furniture, and rolling the trash can out to the street on designated collection days. If you have a son or daughter interested, please let us know. Please contact Amanda Solvason at 334.391.3287. We plan to open the pool prior to May 30th weather depending. Exact date to be determined.

Modification requests. The Season for numerous requests for Springtime work is upon us. All requests are welcomed. The form is located on our HRCA web page (www.horsemensrun.org). Your Architectural Review Committee is chaired by Brad Williams, who is doing a great job working with our homeowners.

Roadway weeds. There is a recurring problem of weeds growing between the asphalt street and the concrete gutters. While this should be maintained by each resident, the Board has approved and paid for weed killer. Mr Brian Diehl has volunteered his pump sprayer and time to do our entire Community. It should make a big and immediate impact on the appearance of the community. So, if you see him out and about on your street, you might consider a word of Thanks to him.

State Burning Ban. Georgia has instituted an outdoor burning ban from 1 May to 30 September. Fayette County is included in this ban. Burning of yard debris and land clearing waste is also prohibited by our Protective Covenants. This does not apply to barbecue pits or fire pits that use firewood or charcoal.

Lastly, we are still seeking a homeowner to volunteer to oversee our landscape efforts. If you are willing to help, please contact one of your Board members.
